Funeral of Director & Chair of Colebridge Enterprises - End of the road for Colebridge Enterprises?
On 2nd July 2025, we will say goodbye to Dave Arthur Dunkley. A fomer teacher, school head and governor.
Dave was an advocate of giving disadvantaged people opportunities and therefore he was delighted when asked to become a trustee of Colebridge Trust.
He later accepted an additional role as Chair of Colebridge Enterprises. The assembly and packing social enterprise that made a difference to people with disabilities, learning difficulties and long-term health issues. Through mentoring, training and practical work many people from Solihull, Warwickshire and Birmingham have benefitted by being included, becoming hughly employable and improving their health & wellbeing.
It's with a heavy heart, that this week of all weeks, we have started a consultation process with the majority of staff at the industrial unit. This is due to a once manually produced product being automated by a customer...these things happen.
We've still got some work, however urgently need to identify manual work for our 5,500 sqft unit in Solihull. We're ISO9001 and have worked across many products.
Supported employment is important. As is offering work experience to disadvantaged young people. We managed over 25,000 hours of supported employment last year and worked with a number of special schools.
Dave would want the staff to fight tooth and nail to keep the work going, because we need to keep the opportunities flowing...and so here we are!
Can you help in any way?
